“WHILE THE WAR ENDED, THE HUMAN STORY DID NOT”
Returning veterans to the places where they served to honor the fallen, confront the enduring weight of war, preserve personal testimony, and create opportunities for reflection, understanding, and reconciliation.
“We believe battlefield reconciliation can become one of the most powerful pathways toward healing from the lasting psychological wounds of war.”
– Joseph GETHERALL, Vietnam Veteran
OUR PURPOSE
Return to Vietnam creates meaningful opportunities for veterans to return to the places where they served, honor fallen comrades, reconnect with fellow veterans, and engage with former adversaries and Vietnamese communities. Through remembrance, dialogue, and human connection, each mission helps veterans place their wartime experiences within a broader understanding of history and encounter Vietnam not only through the memory of conflict, but through the possibility of reconciliation, peace, and healing.
THE HUMAN STORY
Behind every account of the War in Vietnam is a human story shaped by service, loss, memory, and survival. For many veterans, those experiences remained deeply personal long after they returned home. Return to Vietnam creates space to acknowledge what was carried, honor those who were lost, reconnect with people and places of consequence, and approach the past with greater understanding. In that process, remembrance becomes more than reflection—it can become a source of connection, reconciliation, and personal healing.
WHAT WE DO
Each Return to Vietnam mission is built around the veteran’s service history, personal experience, and the places that remained with them long after the war. We return veterans to locations of consequence, help them honor fallen comrades, reconnect with fellow veterans and communities, preserve firsthand testimony, and create space for reflection, dialogue, and understanding. Every mission is carefully researched and supported so veterans can confront the past with dignity, perspective, and the possibility of greater peace and personal healing.
OUR IMPACT
The impact of each return extends far beyond the journey itself. Veterans are given meaningful opportunities for reflection, connection, and personal healing; families gain a deeper understanding of what was carried home; former adversaries meet through remembrance and reconciliation; and firsthand stories are preserved for future generations. Our impact is measured by what each return makes possible: greater understanding, renewed connection, personal healing, and memory carried forward.
EVERY RETURN HAS PURPOSE
Every return is shaped by the veteran’s service, story, and the places that defined their experience. Each location is chosen with intention—to honor those who were lost, revisit memories that endured, reconnect with communities shaped by the war, and preserve firsthand history before it is gone. Through rigorous research, careful planning, and dedicated support, every mission is built to carry meaning, dignity, and lasting purpose.
